Filming Blog:Thanksgiving

Image
In the United States, there is a national holiday called "Thanksgiving" and with it being a national holiday I had time off from school.  It began as a day of giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year.  Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated on various dates in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Liberia. This year we were not a traditional with the meals, I made lobster tails they were delicious. The traditional meal for thanksgiving would be a turkey.  Lobster's  soft flesh, once cooked, should be pristine white, soft, and tender. You should be able to eat it with a fork, from the shell. The flavor and texture of the  lobster tail  are somewhere between crab and shrimp and more on the mild side.  Lobster's  flavor is uniquely mild, with all the richness in texture.  So I used my time off to regroup and take some time for myself. Which in doing so I completely ...

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Image
First Scene- During the first scene, I will be slowly zooming into a star shining bright. To show the light at the end of the tunnel. The location of this shoot will be in my hallway. By doing so it will be dark so in order for it to be lit it will have a spotlight. This shot will be filmed close when zooming into the star.  Second Scene-  In this next scene, I will be doing a black transition to a female black in influencer that will last for about 5 seconds. This shot will remain in my hallway.  Third scene-  In this scene, I will be doing a tracking shot showing the women getting into their seats to watch the main performance.  Fourth Scene- In this scene, I will be slowly zooming into the person that will be singing the song in an a capella  style.  Fith Scene- In this scene, I will be transitioning to another very influential black person in the black community.  Sixth scene- In the scene, It would cut to another tracking shot showing a...

Planning for my Music Video

Image
To start planning for my music video I prior picked a song that I was going to do. The song that I picked was "Freedom" by Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar. It is a very influential song to me and many others.  I picked the attire I wanted the characters to play in my video. The clothing is a big part of the video showing the weariness and how much time has passed. Also represents the passed ancestors that have gone through the same thing we are today. (kinda) My schedule for this week and weeks to come will be :  On 11/16/2020 do the research portion for my music video. On 11/17/2020 establish the schedule, attire, props location, song title, and a backup plan for my video. On 11/20/2020 create my storyboard for my music video. On 12/3/2020 film for my music video. On 12/5/2020 edit and final touches for my music video. 4. Location list  My main location for this music video will be in the hallway to showcase the shadows and adding some faint lighting like the original m...

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
In the music video "freedom" the camera shots are normally tracked shots, zoom and reverse zoom. Like in the middle part of the video the camera goes from tracking the audience to zooming into Beyonce singing. The normals in the freedom music video are a mixture of a lot of different shots such as master shots, close up, mid-shot, and long-shot, etc. The camera angle in the music video is low angles and dutch angles. The freedom music video also has pan shots through the video. In the video composition, there is depth in the field, deep focus, and shallow focus. In the video, there are fade-in and fade-outs. In the video, there are also eye line shots, jump shots and long takes. In the video they edited it to be an ellipsis shot. The costumes within the video are very vintage the lighting is a bit dark and light(faint). This means that the lighting in the video was sometimes very bright showing everything. Then sometimes it was kinda dark like faint. The acting was pretty non...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
On this music project, I am going to be working by myself. I am working by myself with the resources I have at home and the internet. I choose to work by myself because it's a bit of a struggle to work with someone online. I am also working by myself because of Covid-19. Also to have to depend on another person for things and then not be on time for the deadline. I choose the song "freedom" by BeyoncĂ© and Kendrick Lamar. This song was made by two black influential people for the black community. The song freedom is a very important song that speaks on the history of what the black race has had to go through.  I choose the song freedom because of the current climate that we are in with racial discrimination. Racial discrimination is any discrimination against any individual on the basis of their skin color or racial or ethnic origin.   In the video for “Freedom,” the mothers of black men  who died  at police hands join  with young black women who’ve been ri...

Critical Reflection Questions

Image
My commercial represents social issues by using people's anti-social issues to make a friend. It uses these social issues to make friends by sharing with someone you always see alone and by themselves. By knowing someone is anti-social and being a friend by sharing with them. I did not challenge conventions I used the same conventions like the one's paper mate does for their pens. My project engages with the audience by showing them the good paper mate brings and the product of the pen. The product of the paper mate pen is just better than the rest. With its smooth application. My commercial lets them know that with paper mate we would be changing the world one pen at a time. It's also important to be a friend if you see someone in need. At the end of the day, we don't know what that person is going through. It would be distributed as a real media text by writing the importance of sharing and telling the way paper mate share with people. Within the media text, it will...

My Commercial

This was the first very major video project that I worked on for Cambridge. Looking back and watching the project now, I can see many aspects that I could have improved on. However, this is to be expected as I have greatly improved my production skills from this point. Nevermore I am proud of my first production, as it shows how proficient I was before I developed any skills. It is a testament to my will to improve my production skills.

Editing blog: making the right durations

Image
Once all the films were aligned in order like they needed to be, I had to make sure the timing was right. This included both editing and speeding up the time. Some scene was not included in the film because it dragged out the time. To begin with, the first editing was done on my at-home laptop. What had to be done was run the entire film. Once I did that I saw the film went a little over a minute. So I had to go back and check and see which scenes to cut down even more. I first cut down the first opening scene by a couple seconds. I cut a scene where there was a bit of dialogue with me and one of my actors. This gave me less time which was good for the film. Then another scene was cut that was just drawing. In a way the scenes were cut they looked like jump cuts. The decoration around the flower was cut very short. Then more editing came into play. In the scenes where I discovered a long amount of drawing, I sped up the time. Even more so I added happy music in the background to g...
