Research blog: Music Video Conventions

In the music video "freedom" the camera shots are normally tracked shots, zoom and reverse zoom. Like in the middle part of the video the camera goes from tracking the audience to zooming into Beyonce singing. The normals in the freedom music video are a mixture of a lot of different shots such as master shots, close up, mid-shot, and long-shot, etc. The camera angle in the music video is low angles and dutch angles. The freedom music video also has pan shots through the video. In the video composition, there is depth in the field, deep focus, and shallow focus. In the video, there are fade-in and fade-outs. In the video, there are also eye line shots, jump shots and long takes. In the video they edited it to be an ellipsis shot. The costumes within the video are very vintage the lighting is a bit dark and light(faint). This means that the lighting in the video was sometimes very bright showing everything. Then sometimes it was kinda dark like faint. The acting was pretty non-existent just people doing their own thing like enjoying the performance or dancing. The makeup in the video was very natural there are no props being used. Just the dinner table and also there are using the area around that come with different things. The setting was very vacant in the woods or a far off home. At the beginning of the video, there was a non-synchronous sound there later on it turned into synchronous sound. Throughout the film, there was identical music. Meaning the video started out with a close-up on a character(a baby) and the music started to play. Then eventually the camera was on Beyonce who was singing.
